KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – As the world accelerates towards a net-zero future, Malaysia is solidifying its role as a regional hub for sustainable growth. The 17th International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM 2026), anchored alongside the Kuala Lumpur Sustainability Summit (KLSS) 2026, is set to take place from 7–9 October 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Under the theme "Race Towards Net Zero: Action Beyond Boundaries," this year's event promises to transform climate commitments into tangible, cross-border action.
Now in its 17th edition, IGEM has evolved into Southeast Asia’s premier platform for green technology and eco-solutions. IGEM 2026 is expected to generate RM22.5 billion (approximately USD 5.5 billion) in potential business leads, attract over 60,000 visitors from 50 countries, and feature approximately 450 exhibition booths. This ambitious scale reflects the growing global urgency to address climate change and unlock economic opportunities in the green economy.
The event builds on significant momentum from IGEM 2025, which successfully secured RM10.3 billion in potential green technology investment leads for the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), surpassing its initial target.
IGEM 2026 enjoys robust backing from key government bodies, including the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC). The event serves as a strategic convergence point where national policy ambition meets industry innovation.
Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, highlighted the urgency of collective action: “As the world moves towards net zero, stronger collaboration across industries, sectors and borders is essential. In this era of geopolitical uncertainty, energy security and sustainability have become shared imperatives that require coordinated action”.
Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of MIDA, emphasised that the green transition is now fundamentally an energy security and economic resilience agenda, particularly amid global supply chain disruptions and fossil fuel volatility. He reaffirmed MIDA’s commitment to attracting high-quality green investments across renewable energy, green mobility, circular economy solutions, green hydrogen, bioenergy, and carbon capture technologies.
Malaysia’s policy framework continues to create a favourable environment for green investment. Key initiatives include the New Incentive Framework for the manufacturing sector, which links tax incentives directly to sustainability practices, and the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS), which enables direct corporate participation in renewable energy projects.
IGEM 2026 is introducing several new segments to reflect evolving market trends:
Sustainable Lifestyle Zone: A dedicated platform showcasing green technology in food & beverage, fashion, beauty, and other consumer goods sectors.
Green Property Showcase: Featuring sustainable property developments and green-certified projects.
Expanded Mobility Showcase: Highlighting innovations in electric vehicles (EVs), clean transportation, and future mobility solutions.
This expanded scope aligns with shifting consumer behaviour. The People and Climate Change 2026 report indicates that 50% of consumers now intend to "vote with their wallet" by supporting brands that align with their values.
A cornerstone of IGEM, the KLSS 2026 will convene approximately 400 C-suite executives, senior policymakers, and institutional investors for high-level dialogues on climate governance, sustainable finance, and regional collaboration. Through keynote addresses, fireside chats, and panel discussions, the summit aims to translate sustainability ambition into investable projects and scalable solutions.
Since its inception in 2010, IGEM has generated over RM86 billion in business leads, cementing its reputation as a must-attend event for stakeholders across the ASEAN region. The event serves as a critical marketplace connecting Malaysian SMEs with global technology providers, project financiers, and international buyers, ensuring that green growth opportunities reach businesses across all states.
